Beautiful Miss Amanda Desmond had no interest in being a wife, for to be a man’s possession was a notion that filled her with loathing.

Handsome and wealthy Andrew Fairleigh, Lord Mainwaring, detested the idea of marriage, for he enjoyed the pleasures of freedom far too much.

But now Amanda desperately needed a husband so that she would not lose the child who was her ward. And Mainwaring definitely needed an escape from the swarm of sirens besieging him in the marriage mart.

Thus this perfectly mismatched pair made a bargain to be joined in the eyes of the world while remaining securely single in private. But then, love gave the icily innocent Amanda and the worldly-wise Mainwaring far more than either of them bargained for… .
