Even before high-minded and fiery-tempered Miss Nicola Lacy met Lord Alexander Kinross, she had heard all too much about him.

He was wealthy. He was handsome. He was charming. He had the best of tempers and the sunniest of natures. And he could, and often did, have any woman in London society he wanted.

Now it seemed he wanted Nicola as his wife–though he saw no reason to give up his beautiful married mistress, Judith Layton in the process. Nicola added this to the long list of faults of this idle, dissolute, womanizing wastrel whom she had so man reasons for rejecting… and such a hard time resisting….
